Football powerhouses Ekpene Ukpa and Idua are set for a thrilling clash as they vie for the coveted trophy in a match that promises fireworks on and off the pitch.

The tournament, which kicked off a week ago, is more than just a sporting event, it serves as a platform to engage youths and residents of Ward 2 Urban on the importance of obtaining their voter cards ahead of the upcoming elections. The initiative, according to organizers, aims to boost civic participation while using football as a unifying force in the community.

Ekpene Ukpa topped the group stage with four points and a superior goal difference, while Idua secured their place in the final as group runners-up after a series of competitive fixtures. The final showdown kicks off at 3:00 PM, and fans are expected to fill the stadium to capacity.

Government officials, community leaders, football scouts, and local supporters are expected to turn out en masse for the event, which has become a highlight of the local sports calendar.

The tournament is proudly sponsored by Elder Paul Bassey, Honourable Commissioner for Sports, whose vision for grassroots development and political awareness has driven the success of the event. In addition to promoting electoral participation, the Unity Cup has unearthed budding football talents and strengthened bonds within the Ward 2 Urban community and the APC political family.

Residents are encouraged to attend, support their teams, and witness what promises to be a landmark event for local sports and civic engagement in Eket.
