UYO, The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom State, Prof. Anugbum Onuoha, has monitored the ongoing distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across Registration Areas in the state.
The monitoring exercise took place on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, as part of efforts to assess the progress of the distribution and ensure that eligible registrants receive their PVCs without unnecessary difficulties.
The PVC distribution exercise commenced on October 9 and is scheduled to end on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
During the visit, Prof. Onuoha assessed the conduct of electoral officials, the turnout of registrants and the general organisation of the exercise to ensure a smooth, orderly and hitch-free process.
The monitoring visit underscores INEC’s commitment to effective electoral administration and the need to make the PVC collection process accessible to eligible voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The commission continues to encourage eligible registrants to collect their cards and prepare to participate in the democratic process.
