Infrastructure development across Akwa Ibom State has gained fresh momentum as contractors intensify work following Governor Umo Eno’s recent directive and the release of ₦60 billion for project execution.
A tour of several project sites in Nsit Ubium, Oron, Abak, and Uyo reveals accelerated activity, as construction firms mobilize to take advantage of the dry season and deliver on key infrastructure targets.
Among the high-impact projects underway are the 2.49km Ofriyo–Ikot Ekpene Udo dual carriageway, which includes two 120-meter span bridges connecting Eket and Nsit Ubium, and a 9.7km internal road network within Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
Work is also progressing steadily on multiple strategic roads across Oron, Abak, Ikot Ekpene, and Uyo, as the government pushes for the completion of long-stalled projects.
Residents in these areas have commended Governor Eno for his emphasis on rural transformation and expressed appreciation for the contractors’ engagement of local skilled workers, creating both employment and community ownership.
This surge in construction aligns with the administration’s ARISE Agenda, aimed at expanding road networks, revitalizing abandoned projects, and promoting inclusive development across the state.
