Ibom Angels FC clinched a dramatic 1-0 victory over Delta Queens in a pulsating Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) encounter at the Uyo Township Stadium on Wednesday, March 19.
The closely contested match saw the home side, led by coach Edwin Okon, display resilience against their more experienced opponents. Both teams battled fiercely, with Delta Queens holding firm in defense while Ibom Angels searched for a breakthrough.
The decisive moment came in stoppage time when Ibom Angels’ captain, Abasiofon Uwah, rose highest to head in the winning goal, sending the home crowd into jubilation. The crucial win strengthens Ibom Angels’ position in the NWFL standings as the second half of the season unfolds.
The team’s next challenge will be another tough fixture against Rivers Angels, also at the Uyo Township Stadium.
