The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has stated that it is yet to be officially served with a court order relating to the enforcement of regulations on tinted glass permits.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, made the clarification on Saturday in response to reports by human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, who had earlier claimed that the court had ordered the police to maintain the status quo on the matter.
Responding via his official handle on X (formerly Twitter), Hundeyin emphasized that the police had not received any formal notification of the ruling. He also cited excerpts from the court’s decision, noting that three of the key injunctions sought by the plaintiff were denied.
“The court merely directed all parties to maintain the status quo pending the next adjourned date, which is October 16,” Hundeyin stated.
The controversy stems from ongoing debates over the legality and enforcement of tinted glass permits, with human rights advocates questioning the constitutionality of some police actions related to the issue.
