Ikot Ekpene, March 13, 2025 – In a continued crackdown on illegal firearms, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has intercepted a Mercedes Benz C300 with a customized plate number FORBES JR, recovering a locally fabricated firearm and two live cartridges.
The operation took place at the Control Post in Ikot Ekpene during a routine stop-and-search exercise aimed at curbing crime and enhancing public safety. The vehicle had three male occupants who identified themselves as:
Nsisong Paul Okon, 27, a native of Itak Village, Ikono LGA
Francis Forbes, 62, of Ikot Akpa Edok Ndiya Village, Ikono LGA
Prince Forbes, 27, of Ikot Akpa Edok Ndiya Village, Ikono LGA
Following the discovery, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba M. Azare, fsi, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on unlawful possession of firearms and assured the public of its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer, urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
