Abuja, In a bold move to uphold internal discipline and restore public confidence, the Nigeria Police Force has summoned 151 senior police officers before the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) to address various allegations of professional misconduct and ethical breaches.
The disciplinary sessions, which began on Monday, July 14, 2025, are scheduled to run through Friday, July 25, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja. The affected officers, all of the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and above, were drawn from different commands and units across the country.
The Force Disciplinary Committee is a key internal oversight mechanism tasked with reviewing complaints and infractions by senior officers. According to a press statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the ongoing proceedings are being conducted in accordance with existing police regulations, with outcomes to be forwarded to the Police Service Commission for final decisions.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reiterated his administration’s commitment to entrenching discipline, professionalism, and ethical standards in the Force. He warned that acts of misconduct and indiscipline would not be tolerated under any guise.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its commitment to promoting integrity, professionalism, and public trust,” the statement read. “This disciplinary process is a clear demonstration of our resolve to build a service-driven institution governed by accountability and the rule of law.”
The development signals a renewed drive by the police leadership to sanitize the system and reinforce institutional credibility through internal checks and transparent disciplinary action.
