Uyo, In a major breakthrough against theft and burglary, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one David Ededet Okon of Mbiabam in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area and recovered a large cache of suspected stolen property.
Okon was apprehended on Sunday, July 20, 2025, following intelligence-led operations by the Command. The extensive list of recovered items includes musical equipment, electronics, household appliances, and other valuables suspected to have been stolen from various locations across the state.

Among the recovered items are:
4 sets of drums
6 guitars
15 mixers
2 equalizers
2 amplifiers
8 gas cylinders
25 speakers
2 ovens
2 gas cookers
3 keyboards
11 stabilizers
1 washing machine
5 compact discs
1 giant ceiling fan
5 generators
2 coils of DSTV wires
1 Dell laptop

9 desktop computer monitors
13 television sets
4 electric irons
1 sonic insect killer
2 electric kettles
1 motor battery
10 microphones
1 DSTV decoder
1 Sony decoder
6 DVD sets
2 tomba drums
5 standing fans
2 cymbals

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the arrest and noted that the Command is calling on members of the public who may have lost property matching any of the listed items to come forward with verifiable proof of ownership to reclaim them.
She further revealed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect’s accomplice identified only as Sanusi, who remains at large.
“The Command remains committed to rooting out crime and bringing perpetrators to justice,” DSP John stated.
