President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that ongoing judicial reforms will remain ineffective unless they are anchored on unwavering integrity, insisting that justice in Nigeria must be completely free from corruption.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2025 All Nigerian Judges’ Conference in Abuja, the President cautioned that the Judiciary must never become a “refuge for compromise,” warning that corruption within the Bench threatens the very foundation of the nation.
Tinubu emphasized that judicial corruption does more than tarnish the image of the courts—it undermines governance, erodes public trust, and strikes at the heart of Nigeria’s democratic principles. He urged judges at all levels to remain steadfast in upholding ethical standards, noting that their role is central to the survival and stability of the country’s democracy.
The President reassured the Judiciary of his administration’s support for reforms but stressed that such reforms can only succeed when judicial officers commit to transparency, integrity, and impartiality.
