The Diocese of Uyo, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, will on Monday, September 21, 2026, enthrone Rt. Rev. Dr. Kingsley Ogbonda as its fifth Bishop, marking the beginning of a new episcopal chapter in the Diocese.

The historic ecclesiastical ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Cathedral Church of All Saints, Gibbs Street by Brooks Street, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from 9:00 a.m.

The event is expected to bring together Anglican faithful, clergy, dignitaries and other well-wishers to witness the formal installation of the new diocesan shepherd.

In a press release by the Uyo Diocesan Communicator and Media Director, Ven. John Uzoma, PhD, the enthronement follows his election and recent consecration as bishop of Uyo, the fifth in succession. It comes after the demise of the Rt. Rev. Owen Ukafia just a year ago.

The enthronement will be officiated by the Primate of All Nigeria, His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Henry Ndukuba, who will lead the ecclesiastical proceedings marking the assumption of office by the new Bishop.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Kingsley Ogbonda will lead the Diocese alongside his wife, Dr. Mrs. Chioma Ogbonda, as the Anglican community in Uyo looks forward to a new phase of spiritual leadership and service.

The Diocese has described the occasion as a celebration of God’s faithfulness and an important milestone in its history.

The Diocese of Uyo has therefore invited members of the public, particularly the Anglican faithful, to join in the celebration with thanksgiving and expectation, as the Diocese welcomes its fifth Bishop and formally begins a new episcopal chapter under the leadership of Rt. Rev. Dr. Kingsley Ogbonda.
