The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, has been unveiled as the keynote speaker for the 2026 World Maritime Day celebration in Akwa Ibom State.
The event, organised by the Energy and Maritime Reporters of Nigeria (EMR), Akwa Ibom State Branch, is scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Patience Umo Eno Hall, NUJ Press Centre, Information Drive, Uyo.
The celebration will be held under the International Maritime Organization (IMO) theme, “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence,” while the Akwa Ibom State theme is “Unlocking Akwa Ibom’s Maritime and Blue Economy Potential Through Effective Policy Implementation, Local Content Participation and Strategic Partnerships.”
According to EMR, the programme is expected to bring together maritime stakeholders, industry professionals, policymakers, media practitioners and other relevant stakeholders to examine opportunities and challenges in the development of the maritime sector and blue economy in Akwa Ibom.
The event is also expected to provide a platform for discussions on effective policy implementation, increased local content participation and strategic partnerships as pathways to unlocking the state’s maritime and blue economy potential.
EMR said the celebration reflects its commitment to promoting maritime excellence through responsible and professional reporting.
