Ikot Ibiok, It was a moment of celebration and relief at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Primary School Ikot Ibiok on February 23, 2026, as EMOIMEE Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) officially commissioned and handed over a suite of completed projects aimed at transforming the school’s learning environment.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Headteacher, Lady Itoro B. Okon, described the intervention as historic and long overdue. She expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the projects within a short period and commended the vision behind the initiative.
Addressing consultants from Teczel Nigerian Company Limited, contractors of EMOIMEE HCDT, education stakeholders, members of the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC), PTA executives, the Village Head of Ikot Ibiok, parents, teachers and pupils, the headteacher recalled the school’s previous challenges.
She noted that the school environment had once been hazardous, plagued by trespassers and acts of vandalism, which disrupted academic activities and threatened the safety of pupils and staff.
“Today, the story has changed,” she declared, emphasizing that the transformation would permanently erase the school’s troubled past and usher in a new era of secure and conducive teaching and learning.
The projects executed and handed over include:
Construction of a perimeter fence
Renovation and electrification of four classroom blocks
Upgrade and rehabilitation of the school borehole
Construction of modern toilet facilities
Construction of a security post
Provision of security personnel
Supply of 150 learner desks
Provision of six teachers’ tables and chairs
Installation of solar-powered security lighting
Lady Okon particularly praised the consultants for their diligent supervision and smooth delivery of the projects without hitches or distractions.
While commending the intervention, she revealed that the school has five classroom blocks in total, noting that only the renovated blocks currently meet conducive standards for effective teaching and learning. She appealed to well-meaning individuals and organizations for further support to upgrade the remaining facilities.
She assured EMOIMEE HCDT and its partners that the school community would safeguard and properly maintain the newly handed-over facilities.
The event marked a significant milestone for education development in Ikot Ibiok, as stakeholders described the intervention as a bold step toward strengthening basic education infrastructure and improving the welfare of learners.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the benefactors and a renewed commitment by the school community to maximize the impact of the projects.
