Abuja, President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has mourned the passing of elder statesman and billionaire philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, describing his death as a monumental loss to the nation.
In a statement issued on Friday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate President expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the Kano-born industrialist and humanitarian, who died earlier that day.
Senator Akpabio hailed the late Dantata as a man of exceptional character, known for his compassion, entrepreneurial ingenuity, and unwavering dedication to humanitarian causes. He noted that Dantata’s life was marked by acts of kindness and a tireless commitment to uplifting the underprivileged.
“I know Alhaji Aminu Dantata as a very ingenious and generous man, who made his fortune through hard work and industry. He contributed immensely to the development of Kano State, Northern Nigeria, and the nation at large,” Akpabio stated.
The Senate President said the late businessman’s legacy as a benevolent figure and visionary entrepreneur remains deeply etched in the fabric of Nigerian society.
He extended his condolences to the Dantata family, the people and government of Kano State, and the Nigerian business community, stressing that they have lost not just a patriarch but an institution whose life should be studied and emulated.
“On behalf of my family, constituents, the Senate, and the entire National Assembly, I extend my heartfelt condolences. May Almighty God grant him aljannatul firdaus and console all who mourn him,” Akpabio added.
Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a towering figure in Nigeria’s business and philanthropic spheres, was widely respected for his integrity, vision, and social impact. His death marks the end of an era.
