It is with a heavy heart and deep sense of loss that I reflect on the passing of my dear friend and brother in the journalism profession, Mr. Ted Odogwu. Though the years have rolled by since the 1990s when yours truly shared the newsroom at National Interest newspaper in Ogba, Lagos, the memories of our time together remain vivid and evergreen.
Ted was not just a colleague; he was a man of character, conviction, and an unyielding commitment to the ideals of true journalism. He had a unique flair for storytelling, a passion for truth, and a courage that inspired those of us who worked closely with him. His calm demeanor, sharp wit, and professional excellence set him apart in the newsroom and beyond.
We bonded not only through our shared deadlines and editorial battles, but also through genuine friendship. Ted’s loyalty, warmth, and humility made him a brother in every sense. He was a shining light, even in the often chaotic world of journalism, and he left a mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though his journey was cut short, his legacy lives on in the hearts of those of us who knew and admired him. May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace, and may his contributions to journalism in Nigeria never be forgotten.
Farewell, Ted. You are missed, but never forgotten.
