The Akwa Ibom State Football Association (FA) has rewarded Akwa United with a cash gift of ₦100,000 following their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Enyimba FC on matchday 23 of the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Presenting the donation on behalf of the FA, Chairman Samuel Umoh described the gesture as a token of appreciation and motivation for the team as they continue their campaign in the league.
“We in the Football Association are proud of your victory today. It’s a moment of joy not just for us but for all the fans who came out to support you,” Umoh stated. “Our responsibility is to create an enabling environment for football to thrive in the state, and we want to assure you of our continued support this season and beyond.”
Commending the team’s performance, he added, “You played good football today, and the fans enjoyed every moment of it. This victory is a morale booster, and we believe there are many more to come. Though we may not have much to give, we recognize the need for encouragement, and that’s why we are presenting this token of ₦100,000 to support and inspire you. Keep up the good work, and we trust this team will finish the season on a high note.”
Team captain Jean Efala, who received the donation on behalf of the players, expressed gratitude to the FA for their support. He assured fans that Akwa United remains committed to making the state proud by delivering more impressive performances.
Sunday’s victory marked Akwa United’s first win in four league matches and their first in 2025. The Promise Keepers will aim to build on this momentum when they face Sunshine Stars on Saturday in Ikenne.
