The much-anticipated draw for the 2024/2025 Akwa Ibom State President Federation Cup was conducted on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the conference room of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
The ceremony, attended by key stakeholders in Akwa Ibom football, marked the beginning of preparations for a thrilling and competitive tournament. Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association (FA), Mr. Samuel Umoh, reassured fans and participants of a fair and exciting competition.
“The Akwa Ibom State Football Association is committed to hosting a thrilling competition this year—a tournament that will have all the surprises and thrills of the FA Cup. On behalf of the FA, I promise that the FA will be fair and firm throughout the competition. We aim to restore trust and bring back the fans with the excitement this competition deserves,” Mr. Umoh stated.
The Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Referees Council, Elder Joseph Bassey, commended the FA’s efforts and pledged the referees’ support. “We will continue to support and work with the FA to ensure a successful tournament,” he said.
Additionally, the Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Comrade Emmanuel Akpan, assured the public of comprehensive media coverage throughout the tournament. “We will promote this event from start to finish,” he promised.

This year’s tournament features eight teams in the male category and two in the female category.

The tournament will adopt a knockout format for the male category, beginning with quarter-finals, then semi-finals, and culminating in the final match on February 23, 2025.
In the female category, Ibom Angels FC and Jacklyn Angels FC will compete in a single final match scheduled for 2 pm on February 23, 2025.
