The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has directed the Ministry of Special Duties to urgently reinstall the official signpost identifying the state’s premier sports facility as the “Godswill Akpabio International Stadium” at its main entrance.
The resolution followed a motion presented on the floor of the House by the member representing Essien Udim State Constituency, Hon. Prince Ukpong Akpabio.
During deliberations, lawmakers stressed the importance of maintaining the proper identity and official designation of the stadium, noting that the absence of the signpost diminishes its status and could create confusion for visitors and stakeholders.
The House, in adopting the motion, mandated the Ministry of Special Duties to take immediate steps to restore the signage in line with the facility’s recognized name.
The directive underscores the Assembly’s commitment to preserving the integrity of state assets and ensuring that public infrastructure reflects officially approved names and designations.
