Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has called on journalists in the state to collaborate with his administration in fostering growth and development.
The Governor made this appeal during the 2025 Thanksgiving Service of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), held at The Apostolic Church, Ikot Ekpene Udo, in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
In his address, Governor Eno commended the NUJ for organizing the event to honor God and for choosing Ikot Ekpene Udo as the venue. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace and inclusive governance, guided by the principles of the ARISE Agenda, which he described as a roadmap for sustainable development in the state.
The Governor highlighted the crucial role of the media in shaping public perception and urged journalists to help change negative narratives by projecting Akwa Ibom State’s achievements, opportunities, and potential. He stressed the importance of objectivity and professionalism in media practice, noting that positive storytelling is key to attracting investments and fostering progress.
To support the media in their work, Governor Eno announced the donation of a brand-new SUV to the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk and 11 salon cars to members of the NUJ Executive Council.
He also pledged to complete the ongoing construction of the NUJ Secretariat building, a move he said would further strengthen the relationship between the government and the media.
The Governor also used the occasion to call on Akwa Ibom residents to promote unity, support one another, and work together to project the best image of the state to the world.
The Thanksgiving Service, which drew journalists and dignitaries from across the state, served as a platform for the Governor to reiterate his administration’s commitment to inclusive and people-centered governance.
