Princess Godsown Udoito has regained her freedom after spending 270 days in custody at the Uyo Correctional Centre.
The Ekid People’s Union (EPU) announced her release in a statement dated September 16, 2026, signed by its President General, Dr. Samuel Udonsak, and Secretary General, Hon. (Barr.) Bassey Dan-Abia, KJW.
According to the statement, Udoito has been released from the correctional facility and is currently receiving routine medical assistance and post-release counselling.
The EPU said the support is aimed at facilitating her recovery and reintegration following her prolonged period in custody, in line with what it described as international best practices.
The Union did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding her release or the legal proceedings that preceded it.
Her release marks the end of 270 days in custody and is expected to bring relief to her family, friends and members of the Ekid community.
