The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers linked to the killing of a security guard during a robbery operation in the Asokoro area of Abuja.
Police authorities disclosed that the suspects, identified as Amaechi Edemba, 46, and Kelechi Nwokoro, 48, were apprehended following investigations into the incident.
According to the command, the two men were domestic staff employed in the residence that was attacked. They allegedly masterminded and executed the robbery, during which a security guard attached to the property was murdered.
The incident occurred in Asokoro, one of Abuja’s highbrow districts, raising fresh concerns over insider involvement in criminal activities within residential estates.
Police sources said the arrests were made after intelligence-led operations by operatives of the command, who tracked the suspects and brought them into custody. The suspects are currently being interrogated and are expected to face prosecution upon conclusion of investigations.
The command reiterated its commitment to tackling violent crime across the Federal Capital Territory and urged residents to conduct proper background checks on domestic staff and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
Authorities assured residents that efforts are ongoing to dismantle criminal networks operating within the territory and bring perpetrators to justice.
