The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, mnipr, fsi, has directed officers and men of the Command to intensify crime-fighting efforts and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties across the state.
The charge was given during the Command’s end-of-the-month Conference of Senior Police Officers, held at the Officers’ Mess along Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo. At the meeting, the Commissioner reviewed the prevailing security situation, assessed recent operational outcomes, and issued fresh strategic directives aimed at sustaining crime reduction.
While commending officers for their sacrifices and recent operational successes, CP Azare stressed that expectations from the Police, government, and residents of Akwa Ibom State remain high, insisting that there must be no room for complacency.
According to him, proactive, intelligence-driven policing is non-negotiable, as the Command must consistently stay ahead of criminal elements. He emphasized the need to strengthen visibility policing, aggressive patrols, sustained stop-and-search operations, prompt response to distress calls, and effective intelligence gathering across all formations and units.

The Commissioner further underscored the importance of professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights, noting that public confidence in the Police is anchored on integrity, fairness, and strict adherence to the law.
He warned that misconduct, corruption, or any form of unprofessional behaviour would attract severe disciplinary measures, while outstanding performance would be duly recognised and rewarded. Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders were also urged to provide firm leadership, enforce discipline, and personally supervise operations within their jurisdictions.
CP Azare concluded by reaffirming the Command’s commitment to collaboration with other security agencies, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to ensure a safer and more secure Akwa Ibom State.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, he said, remains resolute in its mandate to safeguard lives and property and maintain law and order at all times.
