Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Wednesday presided over a landmark All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, calling for renewed unity and reaffirming his commitment to key infrastructural projects, including the much-anticipated Ibom Deep Sea Port.
The meeting, tagged “Home Going,” held at the Nsit Ubium Local Government Secretariat, Ikot Edibon, drew a large crowd of political stakeholders, party loyalists and community leaders. Governor Eno described the gathering as a crucial step toward strengthening cohesion within the party and consolidating development efforts across the state.
Addressing the stakeholders, the Governor assured that the Ibom Deep Sea Port project remains firmly on track. He explained that documentation and investor engagement—key prerequisites for commencement—are actively underway.
“We will very soon start the Ibom Deep Sea Port. It is a long process, and documentation takes time, but the Federal Government is ready, and we are working the talk,” he said. “Let our people be patient and rest assured that the project will soon be a delightful reality for our common good.”
Governor Eno also announced plans for major road infrastructure in Nsit Ubium, including dual carriageways from Nung Udoe to the East–West Road, Nung Udoe to Afaha Nsit, and from Afaha Offiong to Itreto. He urged residents to maintain alignment with the APC, noting that Akwa Ibom has “moved to the centre” to attract greater federal benefits.
Welcoming the Governor, the Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Hon. Alfred Charles, described the meeting as a homecoming and commended Governor Eno for the visible impact of his administration in the area. APC Chapter Chairman, Hon. Johnson Udoka, also expressed gratitude for what he described as the party’s rising fortunes in the state.
Several leaders, including the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Obareki; political leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob; Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Captain Iniobong Ekong; and Member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Hon. Otobong Bob, praised the Governor’s inclusive and development-driven leadership.
The event drew members of the State Executive Council, political stalwarts, captains of industry, and a broad cross-section of Nsit Ubium indigenes, all of whom pledged renewed support for the Governor’s developmental agenda.
