Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has congratulated Ambassador Alphonsus Inyang on his election as Chairman of the General Assembly of the World Coalition of Oil Palm Smallholders (WCOP), describing the development as a significant recognition of his experience and contributions to the oil palm industry.
Inyang was elected to the position at a recent meeting of the international organisation in Indonesia. He is also President of the National Palm Produce Association of Nigeria and Vice President of WCOP for Africa and the Middle East.
In his congratulatory message, Governor Eno expressed delight at Inyang’s emergence, noting his support for the administration’s ARISE Agenda, particularly its drive to revitalise agriculture and expand oil palm production in the state.
The governor urged Inyang to deploy his wealth of experience and international influence to advance Akwa Ibom’s oil palm and tree crop development initiative, with the aim of restoring the state’s position as a leading oil palm producer in Nigeria.
Eno further emphasised that revitalising the oil palm sector would help create sustainable, generational wealth, particularly for rural communities, while strengthening agricultural productivity and expanding economic opportunities across the state. He wished Inyang success in his new assignment, expressing confidence that his leadership would contribute to the advancement of the industry.
