A list of senatorial candidates for the 2027 general elections across Nigeria’s 109 senatorial districts has highlighted the participation of major political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The list covers the three senatorial districts in each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), providing an overview of the political line-up ahead of the forthcoming elections.
In Akwa Ibom State, the APC lists Bassey Aniekan Etim for North-East, Godswill Akpabio for North-West and Ekong Sampson for South. The ADC lists Sunday Etim Umoren, Patience Christopher Ibanga Obot and Louis Paul Udoh for the respective districts, while the NDC names Afia Ekere S., Inemeh Patty Etete and Frank Okon Daniel. The PDP list features Cletus Kufre Udobang for North-East and Isong Etim for South, with no candidate listed for North-West. Other notable names appearing across the country include former Senate President Godswill Akpabio, former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha’s political associate and former Senate President Bukola Saraki’s contemporaries, alongside several serving and former lawmakers and political officeholders.
The list also reflects varying levels of party participation, with some parties having no candidates in certain districts, while Accord appears among the listed contenders in Osun State.
However, the list should be treated as provisional until the candidates’ names and their respective party nominations are verified against official records released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The 2027 senatorial contests are expected to generate intense political competition as parties position themselves to secure representation in the 10th National Assembly’s successor Senate.
