Nigerian entertainer and social commentator, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy or the Area Father, has mocked former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo following his call on President Bola Tinubu to surrender or step aside over the worsening economic hardship in the country.
Dokubo, a former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Nigerian Delta (MEND), reportedly expressed frustration over the country’s economic situation, describing the hardship faced by Nigerians as unbearable. His remarks come amid growing public concerns over the rising cost of living and the economic challenges confronting citizens.

In a dramatic expression of his dissatisfaction, Dokubo was said to have sung a war song while insisting that Tinubu should step aside, arguing that the President was unable to effectively confront the challenges facing the nation.
Reacting to Dokubo’s outburst, Charly Boy took a sarcastic swipe at the former militant leader, suggesting that his sudden criticism of the President might be connected to the failure to renew his supposed political or financial benefits from the presidency.
The exchange has added another dimension to the ongoing public debate over Nigeria’s economic difficulties and the reactions of prominent political and social figures to the Tinubu administration. While Dokubo’s comments reflect growing frustration over hardship, Charly Boy’s response questions the possible motives behind the former militant leader’s sudden call for the President to step aside.
