Senator Ekong Sampson, representing Akwa Ibom South, has extended hearty felicitations to veteran journalist, Elder Solomon Okpo, on the occasion of his 70th birthday anniversary.
In a goodwill message to the celebrant, Senator Sampson hailed Okpo as an accomplished journalist and communicator, with long-serving years of practice and contribution to the journalism space and public discourse in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
Senator Sampson, himself, a journalist of over three decades, saluted Okpo’s long career, marked by professionalism and commitment to ethical practice. He noted that over the decades, Okpo has emerged as one media practitioner with a good nose for news.
The lawmaker further commended the septuagenarian pen-pusher for deploying his wealth of experience in helping shape societal development through informed commentary and constructive engagement.
Sampson prayed for many happy returns for the veteran journalist, wishing him sound health, peace and many more years of fruitful service to humanity.
Okpo started his career in 1977 as a young editorial production staff with the Chronicle, Calabar. Over the years he grew through the ranks, serving in various capacities within the media industry. He currently holds sway as the Publisher of The Evangelist Newspapers.
