A prominent leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has reaffirmed his commitment to party unity, declaring his readiness to support whoever emerges as the party’s presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking in an interview with DW Hausa, Atiku made it clear that his endorsement would not be influenced by age, stressing that he would fully back a youthful candidate if chosen by the party. His position, analysts say, reflects a strategic push toward inclusivity and generational balance within the ADC.
“Yes, why not,” Atiku responded when asked about supporting a younger aspirant, adding, “Allah has done everything for me. I have brought my sons and grandchildren home. What will be their future and that of their children?”
The former Vice President’s remarks highlight a shift from personal ambition to collective interest, reinforcing his stance that the party’s decision must take precedence over individual considerations. His endorsement of youth participation is being viewed as a deliberate effort to strengthen internal cohesion and broaden the party’s appeal among younger voters.
