Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Prince Chibudom Nwuche, has mobilised political stakeholders in Ahoada East and Ahoada West Local Government Areas of Rivers State to throw their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike.
Speaking under the platform of Team Rivers for Tinubu (TRT), Nwuche commended the President and Wike for his appointment as Chairman of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC), describing it as a call to greater service.
He urged elders, youths, women, and party leaders from the two local government areas, cutting across the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), to close ranks in support of President Tinubu’s administration.
According to him, the President had demonstrated goodwill toward the Niger Delta region by empowering Wike with the resources and support needed to deliver on his vision for the FCT.
“The FCT is now wearing a new look with many projects completed and ongoing,” Nwuche said. “Even those who do not like the government cannot deny the fact that President Tinubu, working with Chief Nyesom Wike, is performing spectacularly well and delivering the dividends of democracy.”
He lauded Wike’s leadership style, noting that the former Rivers Governor had replicated in Abuja the transformational impact he had on Rivers State during his tenure.
Nwuche further declared that no coalition of opposition forces would prevent President Tinubu from securing a second term in 2027, stressing that the President’s reforms—such as the removal of fuel subsidy—had unlocked new opportunities for states through increased allocations.
“States are awash with money and governors now have funds to pay salaries and execute projects,” he noted, adding that Tinubu inherited difficult economic challenges but had demonstrated boldness in tackling them.
He dismissed opposition groups as desperate power seekers, arguing that Tinubu deserved to complete eight years in office to consolidate the South’s mandate.
“These people just left power, yet they are already hungry for it again,” Nwuche said. “Some of us left our positions decades ago but continue to support genuine causes. We will stand by Tinubu’s second term because he is doing a wonderful job.”
