President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to demand accountability from state governors, federal lawmakers, commissioners, and local government chairmen over the pace of development in their states and communities.
The President, in a recent public address, emphasized that the Federal Government has significantly increased allocations to states across the federation. According to him, citizens should no longer tolerate excuses for underdevelopment or neglect of human capital growth at the grassroots.
“Hold your leaders accountable,” President Tinubu charged, stressing that governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, commissioners, and council chairmen must justify the resources made available to them.
The President noted that while his administration is working to stabilize the national economy, tangible progress at the local level depends largely on how effectively state and local leaders deploy the increased funds now at their disposal.
Observers say the President’s remarks put the spotlight squarely on subnational governments, amid rising public concerns about the impact of federal allocations on education, healthcare, infrastructure, and job creation.
