The Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed confidence that Nigerians will jettison the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from office in the 2027 polls.
This was made known in a statement issued after the Governors’ meeting in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Saturday.
They unanimously accused the APC of inflicting suffering on citizens through poor governance and divisive policies, pointing out that the PDP remained a stronger option for the country, despite witnessing defections in recent months.
The forum revealed that discussions at the meeting centered on such national issues as insecurity, the decline of democratic practices, and preparations for the party’s forth-coming national convention.
They commended PDP supporters for standing firm in the face of what they described as intimidation and irregularities during recent by-elections.
The Governors also alleged that the polls were heavily militarised and marred by vote buying and violence.
They also urged members to resist attempts to derail the process of the forth-coming national convention of the party, adding that the PDP remained the most reliable platform for restoring good governance and rebuilding the nation.
On security matters, the Governors further condemned on-going killings in Katsina, Plateau, Niger, Benue and other States, just as they reminded the Tinubu-led administration of the security situation, calling on him to act swiftly to protect lives and property.
In attendance included Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, and Ademola Adeleke of Osun.
