UYO, The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has intensified its war against illicit drugs with the arrest of four suspected dealers during a coordinated raid in Uyo metropolis.
The operation, carried out at about 10:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, followed credible intelligence reports on drug black spots within the state capital.
Those arrested in the crackdown include Gideon Patrick Edet, Paul Joseph Effiong, Mfon Cletus Ikpe, and Gideon Edet Etim, all male. A large cache of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs were recovered from the suspects.
Police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, who confirmed the arrests in a statement on Sunday, said the Command remains committed to sanitizing the state of drug-related crimes.
“Investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of inquiries,” the statement read.
The Police Command urged residents to continue providing timely information that would assist in curbing criminal activities across the state.
