Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described himself as the “luckiest politician in Nigeria,” citing unwavering support from political allies across several states whenever he hosts events in Abuja.
Wike made the remarks on Friday during the official commissioning of the newly constructed Arterial Road N5, also known as Obafemi Awolowo Way, stretching from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III (RR3).
The event was part of activities commemorating the second anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, representing the President at the occasion.
In a visibly proud tone, Wike told the gathering:
“Mr President, let me just say this; I don’t think there is any politician who is so lucky like me. Each time we are doing something in Abuja, all my friends from my state, from your state, from Abia to Enugu, Sokoto and Cross River – name them – they all come.”
He went on to acknowledge the loyalty and presence of his associates:
“Let me, with your kind permission, thank the people of Rivers State and then all Nigerians. Those of you who are here, please take a bow before Mr President. Mr President, these guys are worthy of commendation.”
Wike’s remarks underscore his enduring influence across party lines and geopolitical zones, even as he continues to steer strategic infrastructure development in the nation’s capital.
