USA, The recent defection of Governor Umo Eno from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) continues to reverberate across political circles, drawing commendations from key stakeholders, including diaspora-based party stalwart, Dr. Marshall Umoren.
Reacting to the development from his base in Arizona, USA, Dr. Umoren, a respected medical professional, philanthropist, and major financier of the APC — lauded the governor’s move as “an insightful and deft political decision” that promises to realign Akwa Ibom’s political trajectory and integrate the state more effectively into the national grid of governance.
According to him, Dr. Umo Eno’s decision to exit the embattled PDP and embrace the APC signifies a critical juncture in repositioning the state for development-focused leadership and robust federal collaboration. He emphasized that such a bold shift is timely, particularly in view of the need to unify political interests in Akwa Ibom and harness strategic opportunities at the national level.
