Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has been conferred with an Award of Excellence by the Nigeria Police Force, Akwa Ibom State Command, in recognition of his steadfast support to security agencies across the state.
The honour was bestowed during the Command’s Dinner and Award Night held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Ibom Hall, Uyo.
Presenting the award, the State Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, praised Governor Eno for his dedication to enhancing policing operations and fostering a safe environment for citizens.
In his response, Governor Eno expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, applauding the synergy among security agencies in Akwa Ibom.
“We are indeed so grateful and thankful to the CP for his creativity and synergy with other security agencies to combat crime in the State,” the Governor stated.
He commended the Police Command for organizing the event, describing it as a testament to proactive police-public relations and proof that innovation thrives beyond Abuja.
Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to bolstering security across Akwa Ibom, pledging continued support to the Police and other security outfits. He also shared plans to transform the state into a top tourism destination, with the upcoming flag-off of a 5,000-capacity International Conference Centre and a revitalized Ibom Hotels project.
The Governor paid tribute to distinguished officers including retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Francis Erhabor, and the late former Commissioner of Police Washeed Ayilara, acknowledging their pivotal roles in the state’s security framework, notably the development of the Command and Control Centre.
The event also saw the recognition of other eminent personalities such as the Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio and his wife, Dr. Unoma Akpabio; the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun; Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mustapha Mohamed Bala; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Oku Ibom Ibibio, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk; Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Essien Udom, SAN; and several others from government, security, and media sectors.
