Senator Ekong Sampson Reaffirms Unwavering Commitment To Akwa Ibom South, Highlights District-Wide Projects

The Senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Dr. Ekong Sampson, has reiterated his unwavering commitment to the development and welfare of his constituents, declaring that his dedication to the people is “non-negotiable.”
Senator Sampson made this assertion on Sunday, April 13, while hosting members of the media at Watbridge Hotels, Uyo. He stated that every local government area within the Senatorial District has felt the impact of his representation through numerous people-centered projects.
The lawmaker, who chairs the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals, expressed gratitude to the media for their consistent support, adding that such collaboration has been instrumental in driving his legislative goals. He assured that his office will continue to prioritize projects that directly benefit the people.
Speaking on national matters, Senator Sampson hailed the recent establishment of the South South Development Commission, which is headquartered in Uyo. He described the initiative as a “game-changer” poised to accelerate regional development. He commended President Bola Tinubu for assenting to the Bill and appreciated the Senate President for facilitating its smooth passage.
Highlighting some of his achievements, Senator Sampson listed key interventions in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and employment. These include:
Ongoing Bills for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre and Federal University of Medical Sciences in Eket, and a Federal University of Technology in Ikot Abasi.
Completed and ongoing projects in various LGAs such as construction of medical facilities in Eket, Oron, and Ikot Abasi.
ICT centers nearing completion in Eket, Okobo, and Mkpat Enin LGAs.
Construction of science laboratories, staff quarters, and boarding facilities in Urueffong Oruko, Udung Uko, and Mkpat Enin.
Electricity projects in Eyubiasang (Urueffong Oruko LGA) and Okon-Eket (Eket LGA).
School blocks in Amadaka (Eastern Obolo) and Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi.
Solar-powered streetlights in multiple communities.
Erosion control projects in Okobo.
Facilitation of employment for over 30 constituents in federal parastatals, with more in the pipeline.
Senator Sampson while addressing journalists in Uyo, emphasized that there is no local government in Akwa Ibom South without at least one project facilitated by him.
In his remarks, Dr. Essien Ekefre Ndueso, a senior aide to Governor Umo Eno and Dean of the College of Aides, commended the Senator’s inclusive approach to representation and his sustained engagement with the media. He encouraged continued media support for the Senator’s initiatives.
