The late 1960s were a defining period for those of us who attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Ikot Ibiok, in Eket Local Government Area.
It was an era marked by discipline, camaraderie, and a firm foundation that helped shape our future paths. St. Paul’s Lutheran School stood not just as a center of learning, but as a community where lasting friendships and enduring values were forged.
Among the vibrant young boys who walked the sandy paths of the school compound were Solomon Okpo, now a veteran journalist, Publisher of The Evangelist news and Sports Recorder respectively, Essien Willie Eka, business guru, Monday Udo who later served the nation as a police officer and has since retired and Monday Akpan Ekpo, alias, Busa, a business guru with Mobil Unlimited , who today is known for his successful business exploits.
We were all molded by the same principles of hard work, respect, and service to humanity, values instilled in us by our dedicated teachers and the Lutheran mission.
Fast forward to Friday, April 25, 2025, the bonds of brotherhood and memories of our shared past brought us together again.
From right, Solomon Okpo, Essien Willie Eka, Monday Udo and Monday Akpan Ekpo, alias, Busa stood side-by-side during the funeral service of our beloved brother, Sunday Sam Ekambuk. The occasion, though solemn, was a powerful reminder of how deeply connected we remain, a testament to the solid beginnings we had at St. Paul’s Lutheran School more than half a century ago.
As we gathered to pay our last respects, we also celebrated the spirit of unity and the enduring legacy of an educational journey that continues to guide us, even today.
