Senator Ekong Sampson, representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, is making bold strides in delivering purposeful representation through numerous development initiatives across the region. His efforts span health, education, infrastructure, empowerment, and legislative advocacy, reflecting a vision rooted in the progress of the people he represents.
In a major healthcare push, Senator Sampson has facilitated the construction of vital medical facilities in General Hospital, Iquita (Oron LGA), Immanuel Hospital (Eket LGA), and General Hospital, Ikot Abasi. He is also sponsoring a bill for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Akwa Ibom South, currently set for its second reading. Complementing this is another bill for the creation of the Federal University of Medical Sciences in Eket.
The Senator’s education-driven agenda has led to the completion of staff quarters at Excellence College, Ikot Unya (Mkpat Enin LGA), and the near-completion of ICT centres in three key schools: St. Francis Secondary School, Ikot Ataku (Eket LGA), St. Vincent Secondary School, Oti-oro (Okobo LGA), and Excellence College. Boarding facilities and science labs are also being developed, while new fencing and staff quarters are underway at other institutions across the senatorial district.
Other notable interventions include solar streetlights in Udung Uko, Mkpat Enin, and Esit Eket LGAs; school blocks in Eastern Obolo and Ikot Abasi; erosion control in Okobo; and widespread rural electrification projects. The Senator is also opening access roads to farm settlements to boost agriculture.
More than 30 constituents have been facilitated into federal employment, while over 1,000 have benefited from skill development training programs. He remains an active, vocal participant in Senate plenaries and committee work, consistently championing people-centered legislation.
Senator Sampson has been at the forefront of key national advocacies, including the establishment of the South South Development Commission, revitalization of ALSCON, advocacy for the Ibom Deep Seaport, the Federal University of Agriculture in Abak, and the completion of Nkari Dam.
Known as the Onomkpoinam Mkpat Enin, Senator Sampson collaborates closely with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno, fellow lawmakers, ministers, MDAs, and a broad range of stakeholders to ensure Akwa Ibom South remains on the national development radar.
