Nasarawa United secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Akwa United on Match Day 25 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in Lafia on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
The hosts dominated proceedings and made their advantage count, avenging their earlier 1-0 defeat to Akwa United in the reverse fixture held on November 16, 2024. The result adds to Nasarawa United’s positive record against the Promise Keepers, with the Lafia-based team having now won three of their last six encounters since 2022.
Akwa United, who had previously stunned Nasarawa with a 6-1 thrashing in April 2022 and a 3-0 win in January 2023, were unable to replicate such form on the road this time. Instead, Nasarawa’s clinical performance highlighted their resurgence and determination to climb the NPFL table.
With this win, Nasarawa United gain valuable points as the season edges closer to its climax, while Akwa United will look to bounce back in their next outing.
