Gov Eno Vows Inclusive Development, Unveils N335M Empowerment Grants in Oron Federal Constituency

By Solomon OKPO

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, pledging to execute no fewer than five capital projects in the Oron Federal Constituency as part of the proposed 2026 “People’s Budget.”

Speaking at the Oron Federal Constituency Town Square Meeting and Empowerment Programme held at the Oron Township Stadium, the Governor described the event as a key mechanism to interact directly with constituents, receive their development needs, and ensure their inclusion in future state planning.

Governor Eno emphasized that the 2026 budget will be shaped by inputs from local communities, as demonstrated by the recently received Needs Document from the Oron bloc. “We have received your needs document, and we will look at it local government by local government. I guarantee you that each will be considered in the 2026 budget,” he assured.

The Governor lauded the constituency’s contributions to the state’s economic growth—particularly in tourism, infrastructure, and human capital—and reiterated his administration’s resolve to execute people-centered projects across party lines under the ARISE Agenda.

As part of the empowerment drive, the Governor disbursed N335 million in grants to small-scale farmers and entrepreneurs across the five local government areas within the constituency—Okobo, Mbo, Oron, Udung Uko, and Urue Offong/Oruko.

State Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, commended Governor Eno for prioritizing Oron Federal Constituency in his developmental initiatives, describing the projects as both impactful and inclusive.

Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, and other speakers—including Rep. Martins Esin, traditional rulers, and local government chairmen—also expressed appreciation for the Governor’s leadership, pointing to unprecedented infrastructural and economic improvements in the area.

The town square meeting ended with a renewed pledge of loyalty and support from stakeholders, who hailed the Governor for his transparency and fulfillment of campaign promises.
