Rivers Assembly Complex Reconstruction to be Completed on Schedule – Ibas

By Solomon OKPO

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to completing the ongoing reconstruction of the State Assembly Complex within the scheduled timeframe.

During a project inspection at the complex along Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, on Saturday, Ibas urged the contractor, Monier Construction Company (MCC) Ltd., to accelerate work while ensuring adherence to the agreed timelines.

Accompanied by the Head of Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, Ibas emphasized the importance of a functional legislature to effective governance, stressing his administration’s dedication to providing a conducive workspace for lawmakers before his six-month tenure ends.

“I have noticed a missing pillar in the governance structure, the legislature. For them to function effectively, they need a place to work from. The state has provided the necessary funds, so the contractor must deliver as agreed,” Ibas stated.

He reiterated that his primary responsibility is to restore law and order and ensure the smooth operation of the state, with the Assembly Complex project being a crucial part of that mission.
