In a decisive operation, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered his stolen Lexus RX 350 SUV following a gun battle with the abductors in Ikot Ekpene.
According to a statement released by the Command, the victim (name withheld) was abducted on February 13 along Okop Eto Road and taken to an undisclosed location. Upon receiving the report, police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, launched a tactical rescue operation.

During the operation, officers engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gunfight. Overpowered by the superior firepower of the police, the criminals fled with severe gunshot wounds, abandoning the victim and the stolen vehicle. The victim was rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with his family.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, commended the officers for their swift response and reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to fighting crime. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, police efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and recover weapons used in the crime.
