Text: Psalm 24:3-5, Matthew 4:8-11, 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
Beloved in Christ, today’s message calls us to reflect on what it truly means to dwell in God’s glory beyond the fleeting attractions of worldly deception and prosperity. In a world that often equates success with wealth and power, we must ask ourselves: Are we truly dwelling in glory, or are we merely captivated by illusions?
The Call to Dwell in God’s Glory (Psalm 24:3-5).
The psalmist asks, “Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place?” The answer is clear: “The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.”
To dwell in God’s glory means to be in His presence, experiencing His peace, joy, and righteousness. It is not defined by material wealth or societal status but by holiness and an intimate relationship with God.
The Deception of Worldly Prosperity (Matthew 4:8-11).
In the temptation of Jesus, Satan showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor and promised them in exchange for worship. Jesus, however, responded: “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’”
Worldly prosperity is not inherently evil, but when it becomes our pursuit at the expense of our faith and integrity, it becomes a deception. The enemy uses wealth, power, and influence as bait to lure believers away from the true riches of God’s kingdom.
The Glory That Transcends the Earthly (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).
Paul reminds us that our “light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” This means that our ultimate goal is not temporary prosperity but eternal communion with God. The world’s riches fade, but the glory of God endures forever.
Discern the Enemy’s Lies, Recognize that not all success is from God; test every open door.
Live with an Eternal Perspective – Fix your eyes on what is unseen rather than being consumed by worldly desires.
Seek God’s Kingdom First – Matthew 6:33 reminds us that when we seek God first, everything we need will be provided.
Beloved, let us not be deceived by the temporary glamour of the world but strive to dwell in the glory of God. True prosperity is found in knowing Him, serving Him, and living for eternity. May we all be found worthy to stand in His presence, both now and forever.
Prayer:
Lord, give us the grace to dwell in Your glory beyond the deception of worldly prosperity. Help us to seek You above all else and to walk in Your truth. Amen.
