UYO, Bishop Joe Idem of United Christians Bible Church Incorporated has urged Akwa United Football Club to present their bodies as a living sacrifice to God, trust in Him, and remain dedicated and focused to achieve good success in their endeavors.
Bishop Idem made this call during a fasting, prayer, and dedication service organized by the team ahead of the second stanza of the ongoing 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. Speaking from the scriptures in 1 Corinthians 6:12 and Romans 12:1, he encouraged the players and officials to trust in God for a supernatural turnaround in the second half of the season.
“I don’t believe anyone can attribute all their achievements to personal power,” he said. “Without God, no one can succeed. That’s why it is important to surrender all activities to Him in prayer and thanksgiving to receive His blessings.”
Bishop Idem lauded Akwa United’s commitment to seeking God’s guidance through spiritual exercises, emphasizing the importance of combining prayer with hard work. “After putting in the work on the field, this club always dedicates itself to God in prayer and fasting. Keep believing in His limitless power, and you will experience good success.”
The cleric prophesied a divine turnaround for the team, urging them to remain united and work in love. “The first round of the season may not have been good enough, but I prophesy that Akwa United will experience a supernatural upliftment in the second round.”
The event, held at the club’s headquarters, was attended by the Chairman of Akwa United, Elder Paul Bassey, head coach Kennedy Boboye, players, and officials.
Akwa United will begin the second half of the season with a home match against Remo Stars at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Sunday, January 26, at 4:00 PM.
