The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has intensified its intelligence-led operations against criminal elements, with the raid of a suspected criminal hideout in Idu, Uruan Local Government Area.

The operation, conducted in the early hours of September 9, 2026, resulted in the arrest of two suspected drug dealers and the recovery of a large quantity of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, also known as Cannabis sativa.

The Command said the operation formed part of its sustained efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts, disrupt illicit drug activities and prevent criminal elements from using communities across the state as safe havens.

The Police Command reaffirmed its resolve to sustain intelligence-driven operations against crime, warning that criminals would have no safe haven in Akwa Ibom State.
