Human rights lawyer and public affairs commentator, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, has alleged that there is nothing like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, questioning the description and identity of the ongoing federal highway project.
Odinkalu made the assertion in a statement, arguing that the project should not be referred to as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road. His remarks add to the ongoing public debate surrounding the scope, alignment and nomenclature of the highway project, which has continued to attract widespread attention since construction commenced.
The Federal Government has consistently maintained that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is a strategic infrastructure project designed to improve transportation, stimulate economic growth and enhance connectivity along Nigeria’s coastal corridor.
Odinkalu’s comments represent his personal position and have not altered the Federal Government’s official description of the project.
