Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commended Amitec Company for its commitment to community development through the provision of a water project and the donation of 50,000 exercise books to students in Ikot Ekaide, Ikot Okoro, and surrounding communities. These initiatives align with the state government’s ARISE agenda and were undertaken alongside the construction and commissioning of a 23-kilometer road project last weekend.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Eno praised Amitec’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts and called on other contractors to emulate such impactful initiatives. He specifically lauded the Managing Director of Amitec for sponsoring five trainees at the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Center (DASAC) and initiating ten water projects in Oruk Anam.
“Let me thank the MD of Amitec for taking the lead in sponsoring five trainees to DASAC and donating ten water projects to communities in Oruk Anam, as well as 50,000 copies of branded exercise books to the Ministry of Education,” Eno stated.
The governor further directed the Commissioner for Education to distribute 25,000 of the donated exercise books to schools in Oruk Anam, while the remaining 25,000 should be shared among other schools across the state.
Eno also expressed satisfaction with the completion of the 23-kilometer road, which had been inherited at 50% completion from his predecessor. He emphasized his administration’s commitment to completing other economically viable projects across the state and ordered the installation of solar streetlights along the newly commissioned road.
In response, Amitec’s Managing Director, Chief Aiman Saimua, expressed gratitude to the governor for his dedication to rural development. He reiterated that the company’s contributions were meant to complement the government’s efforts in improving the quality of life for residents.
“I feel honored to have been chosen to handle this transformative project, which testifies to the fact that governance in Akwa Ibom State is a continuum,” Saimua said.
He disclosed that the 23-kilometer road traverses 15 villages, with Amitec responsible for constructing 12.5 kilometers of the stretch. As part of its CSR, the company pledged ten water projects for ten villages along its section of the road, 50,000 branded exercise books to the state’s education ministry, and sponsorship of five trainees at DASAC.
The event marked another milestone in Akwa Ibom’s infrastructure and human capital development, reinforcing the collaboration between the government and the private sector to drive progress in the state.
