Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Sunday momentarily stepped away from the responsibilities of governance to fulfil one of his long-standing spiritual callings by officiating a child dedication service at All Nations Christian Ministry International in Eket Local Government Area.
The ceremony presented a different side of the Governor, who, before assuming public office, built a reputation as a Christian minister. Standing before the congregation not as the state’s Chief Executive but as a pastor, he dedicated the child to God in a solemn service marked by reverence, humility and thanksgiving.
For many worshippers, the occasion underscored the Governor’s continued commitment to his Christian faith despite the demands of public office.
Governor Eno has consistently maintained that leadership is fundamentally about service, a principle he says is rooted in his pastoral upbringing. His administration has often been associated with values of compassion, humility and people-oriented governance, which supporters attribute to his background in ministry.
The child’s dedication also reflected what many observers described as the Governor’s consistency in preserving his spiritual identity while carrying out the responsibilities of leading Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking through his actions rather than political rhetoric, the Governor demonstrated that public office has not diminished the values that shaped his life before entering politics. His participation in the service reaffirmed his belief that faith remains an integral part of his personal and public life.
Those who attended the service described the event as both inspiring and symbolic, noting that it served as a reminder that while political office may confer authority, enduring leadership is often strengthened by character, conviction and a commitment to service.
