The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has proposed a total budget of N873.78 billion for the conduct of the 2027 General Elections, outlining significant allocations to ensure seamless nationwide operations.
A breakdown of the proposed expenditure indicates that N375.75 billion has been earmarked specifically for election operations. This component of the budget is expected to cover critical logistics, deployment of personnel, and field activities across the country.
The operational allocation underscores the scale and complexity of conducting general elections in Nigeria, with INEC required to mobilise materials and officials across thousands of polling units nationwide.
Logistics, which traditionally accounts for a substantial portion of election spending, includes transportation of sensitive and non-sensitive materials, security coordination, and movement of ad hoc staff.
Although further details of the overall budget structure were not immediately available, the proposed N873.78 billion reflects preparations well ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
