UYO, Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has showered glowing commendations on the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, describing him as a focused, visionary leader who places the welfare of his people above political noise and personal aggrandizement.
Speaking in Uyo during the launch of the ARISE Human Capital Development (HCD) Strategic Plan, the Vice President praised Governor Eno for his quiet but impactful leadership, highlighting his investments in education, healthcare, and human capital as benchmarks worthy of emulation by other state leaders.
“Governor Umo Eno is carving a niche for himself and for the people of Akwa Ibom State,” Shettima declared. “He is focused on adding value to the state. He is not loud, doesn’t grandstand, and is not a controversial person — for that, we are mightily proud of him.”
Shettima, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the event, stated that the President holds Governor Eno in high regard, citing his humility, performance, and people-centered governance as reasons for that admiration.
“There is no legacy that surpasses that of building our people,” the Vice President emphasized. “Education is the greatest leveller within a generation, and I must thank His Excellency for investing in education. I am not playing politics — I’m speaking from the heart.”
He commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for adopting and domesticating the Human Capital Development framework, noting that such policies show true governance with vision, foresight, and commitment.
“This is a Governor in whom the President has a lot of confidence,” Shettima added, urging other governors to take a cue from Governor Eno’s example.
The ARISE Human Capital Development Strategic Plan is a key initiative aimed at improving health, education, and economic opportunities for residents of Akwa Ibom State.
