The Patience Umo Eno Golden Initiative For All (GIFA) has commemorated its second anniversary with a friendly football match between the Commissioners and Special Advisers’ Wives Association (COSAWA) and the Association of Local Governments Vice Chairmen (ALGOVC).

The novelty encounter, held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Uyo Township Stadium, formed part of activities leading to the initiative’s anniversary celebration scheduled for February 20 at Ibom Hall.
Speaking at the event, the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady and Chairman of the GIFA Board of Trustees, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, said the match was organised to promote unity, wellness and camaraderie among partners and stakeholders.
She commended both teams for their sportsmanship and commitment, noting that the essence of the match was to foster goodwill and relaxation in a friendly atmosphere.

COSAWA emerged victorious with a 1–0 win, courtesy of a first-half strike by Emem Anieti Udofia, wife of the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism. Despite mounting a spirited challenge and maintaining a disciplined defensive approach, ALGOVC were unable to convert their chances.
Lady Obareki recalled that the friendly match tradition began during GIFA’s first anniversary and has since been adopted as an annual feature. She announced that prizes for both teams would be presented during the grand anniversary celebration on February 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Ibom Hall.
The President and Captain of COSAWA, Dr. Bright Archibong, expressed delight over the victory and applauded Lady Obareki for sustaining the initiative’s legacy.

Dignitaries present included the wife of the Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs. Enobong Edidem; wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Inemesit Uwah; wife of a former military governor, Mrs. Funmi Nkanga; the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Inibehe Silas; local government chairmen; and representatives of various women-led associations.
